Yes, both Merlin and Hermione are OFA excellent for hips.
They are going to have a very long career life in agility. I am so pleased with them.

Both has 2 legs each in CKC agility novice.

Merlin has his first "Q" in AAC agility starter jumper.

Hermione has total 4 "Q"s in each of standard, jumper, gamble and snooker. It won't be long before she joins her mom in the Advanced level.

We were at agility fun match yesterday. Moli wore bells around her neck and jingle all the way as she ran.

Merlin ran with Frank and had a great time.
No, he won't wear the bells, it was too girly.

Roxy went to her first dog show last week and met her dad Bijou for the first time.

She has her daddy's ear and his smile.

She was entered in her first show as baby puppy and brought home a few prices. She had her first show photo taken which will be posted later once we have received. it.

Dormo's Trouble finds me, aka "Aniu", who was named after Harry Potter for being a trouble maker of the litter, grows up to be a fine boy. He is well-behaved, beautiful mover, quite to learn, eager to please. Frank just worked with him a few times over the last 2 weeks and he has already maneuverd the show business. He took 4 x BOB/BOW/WD in the last weekend and each is a major. Credit goes to his owner who has trained him well.

As he runs into the gate, Moli gives a "bark". Oh boy! He lays down like a puppy. He remembers his mom.

It is a sunny day. Moli had her 3rd leg in both Novice JWW and Intermediate Standard, handled by Frank for the whole trial because I am still recovering from my knee surgery. It is Frank's first agility trial even though he has been in class for the last year. She is behaving well for her novice daddy.

Hermione followed with her first leg in Novice Standard. She ran in pouring rain with great speed as you can hear in the video. This was her first CKC and second overall agility trial. She is not 2 years old yet.

It is her first trial in agility. She gets her first "Q" in snooker under AAC. She is only 22 months. She has great movement, great speed, eager to please. See how beautifully she jumps.

Above all, I think she may be stressed in a new environment with stranger people with their dogs, but it doesn't bother her a bit. She even tried to say "hi" to the ring crew.

SCA 2010

We took Merlin and Hermione to Pigeon Forge in TN for their first SCA National.
We drove to Seatle and flew to Atlanta then drove another 4 hrs to Pigeon Forge. It is a direct flight and we don't have to worry about losing the puppies during connection. They did very well on their first long trip.

The fall color was beautiful.
We went for good long walks and they slept well at night in the hotel.

They got to meet their daddy Wizard and aunt DeDe for the first time. You can see that they are family.
We took grooming lesson, thank you, Bill for your help. Merlin and Hermione showed beautifully and both got placement. I am so proud of them.
We will share more once we received their show pictures from the photogrpher.

Water dog

It is a sunny day, we all need our exercise. I need to store up my Vit D before the winter and the dogs need to keep their noses black.

Moli jumps into the water to cool off after a long walk and Merlin follows.

The water is high.

It is about time when the salmon returns.

I wonder if it is why Merlin is swimming farther and farther away.

He turns back as soon as I call. I wonder he hears the panick in my voice. I am not prepared to jump in to get him if he runs out of gas.

Canyon hike

We had a lot of snow last winter. It was only till last weekend that the trail to the Canyon is cleared from the snow. I am too lazy to carry my snowshoes with me otherwise.

Moli posed in front of Lake Helen Mackenzie, where the fun began. The part before this lake is well-paved and flat. The trail from then on is rough and ragged, there are still muddy spots from the snow run off and Moli will walk into all of them to cool her paws off.

At Cruickshank Canyon Lookout, Moli is so overwhelmed by the view, or the breeze, she refused to look at the camera.

There are lots of lakes along the way and Moli gets to swim in all of them, and clean her paws and belly off the mud. She carries her own water all the way but refused to drink from her bowl. She says the glacier water from the lake is better.

There is total 26 km and 800 ft elevation. Moli leads all the way from beginning to the end, while I am too tired to get out of the car.

Adding up all her hikes and therapy dog hours, she is ready to claim her WS.

Frank told me that he took pictures of Merlin at the show.

Wait a minute.

Frank was pulling my legs.

That is Wizard, I took those pictures when I first met him at the national. He was 18 months then. I was impressed by his effortless movement.

Without me in the picture, can you tell that he is Merlin, son of Wizard, at 14 months? They even have the same biscuit at the same area of his ears and loin.

Ch. Dormo's She Knows It all

Hermione finished her Canadian Championship with two back to back WB/BOW/BOS with 3 pts major. Yes, this means she beats the boys too, including her brothers.

She is the only girl in the litter, the first to walk, the first to escape the whelping box, the first to climb the stairs and now, the first to get her championship. She is a great mover and free stack.

I named her after the famous Harry Potter character, Hermione, who is intelligent, courageous, loyal. "She is the best in our class," says Harry.

She lives up to her name.

We went to an agilty trial last week in Vancouver under AAC (agility association of Canada). Moli got her ADC (agility dog of Canada) title.
She is now officially CH EJ's Encore Performance CGN, CD, TDI, AGN, ADC.
She should be close in getting her WX too, throught back-packing and dog therapy, if I can sit down, put everything together and fill out the form.

I took her to the night market to get her an ice-cream. It took us a while to walk through the market as we got stopped too often by her admirers, asking to pat her. I have not noticed other breeds that was there getting the same among of attention. I took the opportunity to tell people more about the breed, and also about finding the right breeder.

Puppies first AKC show

We took the gang to Canby for a show. Frank has secured the ex-pen so the dogs have an outdoor area to relax, other than being crammed inside the motorhome.

Merlin did so well in his first AKC show, going RWD on both Sat/Sun.

Hermione took 2nd in the BBE class and Moli took RWB. She gaits well, self-stacked but to hold that stack and stand still is something that we have to work on.

It isn't hard to find our motorhome among others - the one with Samoyeds on the front window.

We camped at Whitby Island after the show to relax for a few days.

Virgin Tour

We took our first tour with our motorhome to the dog show. Frank has spent the last few months working on it, put out the carpet and put in laminate floor, removed the sofa and made a platform for the crates.

Moby likes to be on the lookout.

Moli just likes to be at the table, waiting to be served.

Merlin and Hermione have fun playing on our bed, which is the most roomy area of the home.

When it comes to food, it goes to the boys. If you look close enough, you will see the paper towel that I lay in front of Merlin to catch the drool.

We had a good trip, not to mention that Hermione took WB for 3 days and Moli has 4 Q's in agility trial.

May day

I hope it is going to be over soon.
Merlin is growing up. He is now taller than his mom, challenging her authorities all the time.

He is long and leggy. He is loud and noisy since he just discovers that he has the big boy bark. He will bark and demand.
He is pushing his limits and it is so hard to stand firm when he gives you the "smile", after he knows that he messed up.

I have been having more troubles telling the two apart.
I used to be able to tell by the size but Hermione has decided to grow a bit more lately.

This is Mama Moli.

Not to mention that she is getting more daring and tends not to come when called. So I have decided to leave her outside last night, and while I was turning off the kitchen, she was knocking at the back door asking to come in.

I took Moli and Hermione to the beach last week. I wished I had the camera. They look so alike as both running back to me.

Man in Motion

A friend of Merlin's classmate has dropped by to take some photos.

Merlin is learning to "wait" at the start line.

When we first started, Merlin will walk on top (O how he managed to balance?) of the tunnel, he tried to jump over it but won't go "into" it.

He will now go into it on command, even from a distance.

He is learning to make "contact" at the contact zone, with the "2-on-2-off" method. This means the 2 front legs on the ground, the rear on the obstacle. The dog will learn to distinguish the difference "surface", whether grass, concrete, sand..... from the obstacle and stop where the surface change. By learning that, they will not miss the "contact".....i.e. is a fault in agility.

Today, he makes "contact" and wait there for me(actually my treat) from a few feet, before he breaks free.

It is a nice warm day and the tide is low, Frank is still working on our motorhome, so Merlin gets to go for a walk on the beach with me.

Merlin gets to meet some dogs and their people and he is behaving well, doesn't wander off at all even when he is off leash.

I will have to teach him how to swim when it is warm enough for me to get into the water.

He is one tired, happy puppy and sleeps the whole evening after supper in my craft room, doesn't try to play tug with the curtain that I am sewing.

O Canada

Canada took another Gold Medal in Men's hockey. Now we have a total of 14 Gold. Last time when our country took Gold in both men and women hockey in 2002, Mojo got to carry a Canadian Flag in his mouth when we sang the Anthem.

This year, Hermione gets to wear red (hat) and white and sings with us.

Olympic spirit

Have the puppies been watching too much Olympics with us lately? That they want to challenge their limits, and break record.

I walked into the living room and found Merlin on the top of my grand piano. Mama Moli only made it to the counter top (all 4s) at this age. He breaks her record of high jump. I thought he jumps on the piano stool first then onto the top. So I carry him off and move the stool. I turn back, he pushes onto the keys and on the top again, just to show me how he does it. He jumps off this time before I can carry him.

Only if I can fence off the piano before he hurts himself.

We went snowshoeing today and have Merlin tried on a harness. He took to it like a pro, and started

walking alongside mama Moli at a steady pace.

He loves the snow.

Merlin came home and went straight to his crate for a nap. A tired dog is always a good dog.

It was the last potty break before bedtime. I called and everyone but Hermione, who had a stick in her month wanting Merlin to chase her, came through the door. But Merlin decided to follow me in the house anyway, knowing what was coming next.

So I closed the door, leaving Hermione if she wanted to sleep outside tonight, walked upstairs to the kitchen to give the dogs their night-time snack.

As I put the snack box on the kitchen counter, I heard a "thud" at the back door. Sure enough, I saw Hermione's little face peeking in through the glass on the door and knocking.

I opened the door and let her in.

"Hi, mom. I don't mind sleeping outside but I do want my snack."

Moli hates her harness. She will go into hiding when she sees me pull it out. EXCEPT.......

When I put on my ski pants, and my ski boots, she will sit in front of me asking to have her harness put on. She will dance all the way into the truck, wait there while I load up my skis.

Today we (actually Moli ) found a new trail. We have fun exploring the countryside together.
